Why a drawn signature beats a photographed one
- No white box. A photo of paper carries the paper with it. A drawn signature is ink on nothing, so it is transparent from the start and text reads through it.
- Stays sharp. A phone photo goes mushy stretched across a signature block; a drawn one is captured supersampled and holds up at any size.
- No background removal. Subtracting a background from a scan tends to eat thin pen strokes. Starting transparent avoids the problem entirely.

How do I get a signature with a transparent background?
Draw it rather than photographing paper. A drawn signature is ink on nothing, so the exported PNG is transparent from the start — body text reads straight through it. A photo of paper is stored with the paper included, and a JPEG cannot be transparent at all.
How do I add a signature to a Word document?
Download the Word (.docx) version and drag the signature onto your document — it already floats "In Front of Text", so it sits on the signature line instead of pushing your paragraphs down the page. With a plain image you would right-click, choose Wrap Text, then In Front of Text.
Is a drawn signature legally binding?
An image on its own is weak evidence: it does not record who applied it or when. Under ESIGN, UETA and eIDAS what matters is intent to sign, consent, association with the record and retention. For anything you may need to prove later, sign through a flow that seals the document and produces an audit trail rather than pasting a picture into it.
What does it cost?
Drawing, typing and previewing are free. Downloading is $1.50 for one format or $2.50 for all formats as a zip, with no account required — and it is included at no extra cost on any paid plan.
Can I save a signature and reuse it?
Yes. With an account, save the signature to your profile and it is offered on every document you sign, so you never redraw it. Saved signatures live under Settings → Signatures.
Can I leave the date out of the image?
Yes. Choose "Date in the Word file only" and the PNG, JPG and PDF are drawn without it, while the Word version keeps it as text you can retype. A date drawn into an image is a picture of a date: wrong the next morning, and the person you send it to has no way to change it.
